The Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) will once again host Camp Spark. This exciting two-day camp is designed to introduce young girls ages 12-16 to the fire service industry and provide insight into what’s required to become a Firefighter, Paramedic or EMT. Our hope is to inspire participants to consider the fire department as a viable career option.

Camp Spark is unique in the sense that it provides an opportunity for young girls to learn leadership skills, team building, critical thinking, as well as situational awareness in addition to principles of fireground operations. Participants will also engage in real world firefighting scenarios, hands-on fire and EMS simulations in addition to hands-only CPR, stop the bleed and fire prevention education. Not only will students learn the basics of fire safety, but they will also learn about their role in society, the importance of smoke alarms installations and practicing fire escape plans.

Participants will engage in a variety of hands-on practical training to include donning/doffing turnout gear, handle a charged hose line, explore a maze and hose hoist in addition to a bucket brigade and firefighter relay.

Time: Sat., Aug 19 | 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. & Sun., Aug 20 | 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

At the conclusion of Camp Spark (Sun. Aug 20), a brief graduation ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. to acknowledge the achievements of each participant. Parents, guardians, friends and family members are invited to attend.
